The first of twelve 91 strand anchors has now been successfully installed and grouted at Hazelmere dam. In total 84 anchors have been specified; 12No. x 91 strand , 31No. x 80 strand, 9No. x 61 strand and 32No. x 49 strand. With an individual strand capacity of 279kN, no rock anchors have ever exceeded the capacity installed at Hazelmere dam. Furthermore because the anchors have been designed and executed in accordance with BS8081:1989, the highest capacity anchors have been subjected to the largest cyclically imposed test loads ever applied to an individual anchor.
